For this piece, Piedad Ulloa choose to weave one of the most emblematic Macana designs inspired by the animals found near her house in Bulcay, a small town in the Ecuadorian Andes. Dying the threads with indigo they combine blue and natural thread color to create the shapes for this scarf.
The Ikat technique is used to create this unique piece. They start dyeing selecting a group of threads to create the design they want and finish with the weaving of the scarf using a waist wooden loom called Macana, being the origin of the name for this accessory.
This scarf Is made of 100% Cotton and has a soft touch and silky texture. Because of the nature of this fiber, you feel warm in the winter and safe from a chilly breeze in the summer being the perfect timeless scarf.
